Text Box: Electrical Inspection & Testing Buildings

The Law

Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR) places a legal responsibility on employers and employees, as duty holders to ensure that electrical installations & equipment used during work periods are safe.

Legal Requirements

To achieve compliance with the law the legal requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 requires proof that an electrical installation or equipment is safe. Inspection and testing of an installation by competent people and the creation and maintenance of records would help achieve these requirements.

Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 is part of the Health & Safety Act and is the Law in Britain.

Periodic Inspection Report
It is recommended that an inspection of all electrical installations is carried out at certain times to be sure that the installation has not deteriorated to such an extent that it may pose a risk of fire, to persons or livestock. Our
SOFTWARE is approved by the NICEIC

The report identifies and classifies problems according to BS7671 standards (IEE Wiring Regulations):
1 Requires urgent attention
2 Requires improvement
3 Requires further investigation
4 Does not comply with BS7671
(this does not necessarily imply that the installation is unsafe)
